South Africa witnessed the Zee revolution way back in 1996. Zee TV was launched on MultiChoice digital platform. The evolution of Zee since then has seen it become the market leader in its segment and the only Hindi 24 hour channel in Africa. It has a large number of loyal subscribers and a larger number of regular viewers across Africa.
Zee apart from adhering to its motto of producing quality localised
programming has led some very innovative marketing strategies into the
African market and together these initiatives have lent it the supremacy
that it enjoys in this market.
South Africa has 2 major
broadcasting platforms - MultiChoice and CANAL+. Both these providers
have opened their floodgates to Zee inspite of the African market being a
price sensitive one. Through MultiChoice, Zee is present in Southern
Africa, Eastern Africa up to the Indian Ocean islands of Mauritius,
Madagascar and a few others.
CANAL+, the second largest DTH
provider in Africa has enabled Zee to reach out to markets beyond Asia
as it also offered subtitling in French. Zee now enjoys its presence on
the CANAL+ French service through Zee TV, Zee Cinema and Zing.
